Abhinav Singh has completed his post-graduation in Psychology from University of Delhi. UGC-NET qualified and currently working as Research Assistant at Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS, New Delhi. Has been associated with MHFI since 2015, also involved in the social services delivered by the organization. Project Lead (Honorary Basis) for project MiHOPE since August 2020. He has interests in fields of mental health, spirituality and loves to know about latest trends in technology.

Dr. Prerna Sonthalia
Program Officer
Dr. Prerna Sonthalia, a dental graduate and a public health professional from Indian Institute of Public Health, Delhi. A state level orator with self composed debates and speeches, she hold proficiency in orating and writing skills. She got a review article published in Indian Journal of Health, Sexuality and Culture on “Emotional Changes due to COVID-19”. Has underwent researches on mental health issues like stress, anxiety and depression. Also got opinion articles and blogs published on national media. A pastime poet who loves to overthink and unpack the myriad ways through which we respond to mental illness.

Background

Overview of the project

The global outbreak of COVID-19 ensued strict lockdowns, social distancing, mass loss of employment / jobs, and communities forced into leaving their homes and migrating.

All these factors since the outbreak of the virus have led to a disruption of our normal lives contributing to our disturbed mental health.

WELLNESS PORTAL OFFERING TELECOUNSELING AND TELEPSYCHIATRY FREE OF COST

The portal was inaugurated by Prof. Randeep Guleria, Hon’ble Director, AIIMS, New Delhi at MHF(I) Access Summit on 4th October 2020 in the presence of Prof. R.K. Chaddha (Head, Department of Psychiatry and NDDTC, AIIMS, New Delhi), Prof. Nand Kumar (Founder, Vice President of MHF(I), Dr. Sujata Minhas (General Secretary, MHF(I), and Mr. Abhinav Singh (Honorary Project Leadm MiHOPE, MHF(I)

We understand the difficulties in seeking threapy and other psychosocial support due to the lack of resources available. MiHOPE connects anyone in search of psychosocial support with a team of Volunteers who are trained in psychiatry or counselling without any charges or fee. These services are made available using the internet portal of MiHOPE.

Our telecounseling and telepsychiatry services are provided by qualified, trained, and experienced psychotherapists and counsellors, and psychiatrists respectively. Each session, for which the individual registers on the portal, is provided as per the convenience of the individual.

The portal can be accessed using multiple devices and provides options for chat and video calls alike. In addition to therapeutic services, MiHOPE also hosts several well-being resources on the portal.

Impact

From its induction as a pandemic project on 31st March 2020 to its official launch as a National Online Support Portal on 4th October 2020, MiHOPE has been able to assist more than 200 clients so far.
